Camping near Idyllwild, CA

Khiem and Andrea on the fire tower balcony with the western view in the background. On a clear day you can see Catalina Island off the Los Angeles coast which is about 100 miles away. This day, the view was obscured by smoke from brush fires burning in the Chatsworth area. To the east we could see Palm Springs, but it was too hazy to see the Salton Sea. To the north our view of Mt. Baldy and the rest of the San Gabriel Mountains was covered in haze. And if it had been clearer, we would have seen the Palomar Mountain Observatory and beyond in the mountains of northern San Diego County.
