New Blue Spring, part of the Lower Terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs with historic Fort Yellowstone in the distance. For the decade after 1872 when Yellowstone National Park was established, the park was under serious threat from poachers and souvenir hunters. Ft. Yellowstone was established in 1891 to protect Yellowstone NP's resources.
