Grand Prismatic Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Pretty cool stuff.
Different species of bacteria occupy different areas of the spring according
to their temperature tolerances giving the pools their coloring: blue-green
species in the hottest portions, reddish species at the edges where the
water has cooled. Little biology lesson here.
