Summer 2006

The whole idea of blogging began when I decided to take a three week road trip with Hapa right after I got laid off in June 2006. Mostly, I didn't want my parents to worry about us. So I wanted a way for them to know that we were OK, and also see what we were doing and seeing. It's funny, our first cross country road trip forced me to acquire my first cell phone so I could keep in touch with my parents. This one got me to start my first blog.

So here is our blog from Summer 2006 presented in an easier to read manner. I edited it slightly so that it would read chronologically, from beginning to end. Much easier to follow than a blog where the trip goes backwards since the most recent posts start at the top.

It's been an interesting process for me, transferring the blog to this website. I have gone back and read the blog from the beginning and I can see how my writing style evolved. It has also afforded me the opportunity to add more pictures as well as additional commentary. I also added a bunch of links to maps and additional information on places we visited. Any new pics will be indicated and new commentary will appear in red.

In case you don't know already, you can click on any of the pictures to zoom in on them. On most computers, you can click on it again to zoom in even further. You'll have to click on your browser's "Back" button to get back to the original page.
